CA Latino Leadership Institute Celebrates One Year Anniversary

(PASADENA, CA ) – The California Latino Leadership Institute (CLLI) was founded in 2014 by fellow alumni of the former CA Latino Legislative Caucus Institute for Public Policy. CLLI is proud to commemorate its 1st year anniversary.

The Mission of the California Latino Leadership Institute (CLLI) is to preserve the Latino contributions to California’s rich diverse history and bring together the public, private and nonprofit resources providing for the development of dynamic 21st century leaders.

The first year program highlights include:

  • Successfully vetted and trained the first Veteran Leadership Academy Fellows class in partnership with the California Department of Veterans Affairs, Mexican American Veterans Memorial Committee;
  • Successfully launched the CA History Project with the University of California Los Angeles Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture and debut the Cinco De Mayo In A Box educators kit at the CA Association of Bilingual Educators (CABE) conference, March 2015;
  • Organized and presented the first annual Tri-County Women’s Empowerment Summit’s at Fullerton College on June 27, 2015 including a networking tea reception with Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, 32nd CD; State Senator Janet Nguyen, 34th Senate District and Assembly Member Cristina Garcia, 58th Assembly District;
  • Honoring City of Chino Police Chief, Karen Comstock, the first woman to lead the Chino Police Department and the first female chief in any Inland Empire city as the 2015 Distinguished Women of the Year Award; and
  • Organizing the first Elected Officials Training Academy 2.0 to be held in Downey, California October 9-11, 2015.
